Our History

Making an impact in communities since 2021:

March 2021
Foundation Established

Community Engagement & Opportunity Council launched with the mission to revitalize communities through sports, mentorship & economic opportunity.

Fall 2021
Literacy Lab Renovated in South Dallas

Painted, furnished, and supplied new books and tablets for BridgeBuilder’s Literacy Lab to tackle illiteracy in Bonton. Held a community Fall Festival to celebrate the grand opening and provide resources to families.

August 2022
"I Got Your Back" Event

Partnered with BridgeBuilders to equip 350+ students for the school year.

December 2022
South Dallas Driving Academy

Funded SDDA with a grant to assist them with breaking through systemic barriers of driver’s license access in underserved communities.

February 2023
1st Campus for First Kids

Opened the doors for our 1st session of our First Kids Learning Program at New Life Community Church (Little Elm).

May 2023
PGA Beyond the Green

Exposed a group of students from South Dallas to the business of golf.

August 2023
"I Got Your Back" Event

Equipped ~400 students for the school year alongside BridgeBuilders.

September 2023
Grand Opening for 2nd First Kids Campus

Expanded into the Plano community at Prestonwood Baptist Church.

December 2023
South Dallas Driving Academy

Supported SDDA’s efforts to graduate 95% of its participants, including 31 students who received their drivers licenses.

Mercy Street

Donated 30 Microsoft Surface laptops to their Leadership Institute.

Spring 2024
First Down Mentorship Initiative Launched

Hosted high school athletes to encourage them to use their skills beyond the field of play and graduated our 1st class of Mentees.  

July 2024
Piloted First Down U(niversity)

Held our mentorship initiative at the collegiate level at Southern Methodist University.

August 2024
Hosted Laptop Drive

Partnered with AT&T and Compudopt to provide 132 laptops to students in the Frisco area.

"I Got Your Back" Event

Faciliated in providing 500+ school supply kits for students in Bonton with BridgeBuilders.

September 2024
First Down U Fall Semester

Trained a graduate class (that included 18 student athletes and graduate assistant coaches of multiple disciplines) on skills that will further their opportunities, relationships, and career success beyond their sport.
